Our Story
Both of us, my wife Daniela and I, were born and grew up in Prague. Initially, we came to Canada for a short time only, but later extended our stay and eventually changed our status to permanent residents.
When we made the decision to stay we started thinking of a way to create in Penticton a small oasis with the flavor of the city of our youth. Thus the idea of opening a small, but the unique coffee shop was born.
We used to spend a lot of time in Coffee Shop Bean to the Beach, with its beautiful view of Okanagan Lake and we liked the location very much. When one day the proprietor of the establishment told us of her intention to sell her business and return to her teaching profession, we considered it our chance to take the first step towards realizing our dream. We decided to go ahead and we bought the coffee shop.
A short while afterward while visiting Prague we gathered lots of ideas about décor, menu and good, old Czech recipes. At the beginning of 2014 we started some renovations and at the beginning of March we opened the door.
It is our goal that our customers will like our coffee shop. Hopefully the atmosphere and the goodies will help them to transcend the distance and feel, for a while at least, that they are in the centre of Europe. Our décor, menu, service and quiet classical background music will, we hope, be conducive to a pleasurable experience.
Please come and visit us. You will like the European flavour of our coffee, desserts and food.
